Project: "Strengthening and building the capacities and skills of specialists in issues of violence against women in Palestine and Denmark"

Project Duration: Six months from 1/7/2017 to 30/12/2017
Project sites: Bethlehem governorate, two sites from the Palestinian rural villages of Wadi Rahal and Beit Fajjar, and 3 centers and shelters for battered women.
The target groups of the project: the staff of the Rural Women's Development Association, the staff of specialists in the Centers for Girls' Care and Care and the SOS Children's Village, the women of the women's clubs in Beit Fajjar and Bethlehem
The project was implemented in partnership with the Danish Danner Foundation and funded by the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs CISU
The overall goal of the project:
Prevention and reduction of violence against women in the occupied Palestinian territories and Denmark

Project goal:
Exchanging expertise and specialized knowledge in the field of how to work and reach marginalized women and prevent the secondary trauma that male and female specialists and workers in cases of violence against women may suffer from, and promote work between the Palestinian territories and Denmark to serve and reduce violence against women between the two parties

Mad points and achievements:
• The intervention contributed to reaching women in rural areas and identifying the difficulties they face in their rural communities. Some needs were identified through group meetings and individual interviews, and questionnaires and needs were examined with them to learn more about their situation on several levels at the family, community and individual levels. In those areas, violence against women is a taboo subject.
• The project's activities, such as training and exchange meetings between the Danish Danner Foundation and the Rural Women's Development Association, contributed to supporting and enhancing the energies and skills of individuals from both sides, and enriched and added many new techniques and information related to working with battered women. The SOS Children's Village is about secondary trauma that may afflict violence workers.
• The intervention also enriched and added the skills of the Danner staff with the methods that our specialists and specialized teams deal with women and those who are subjected to violence, which helped them in how to deal with their cases of Arab origin in Denmark.
