Within the framework of the project: "Empowering women-led cooperatives and agricultural associations in Jenin to support displaced persons and enhance community resilience." With support and funding from the United Nations Development Programme/Programme of Assistance to the Palestinian People. Implemented by the Rural Women's Development Society and the Palestinian Center for Economic and Social Development.
The Rural Women's Development Society and the Cooperative Societies Coalition, in partnership with the Palestinian Center for Economic and Social Development and through the Kfardan Cooperative Society in Jenin Governorate, implemented a food parcel distribution campaign targeting hundreds of displaced families in Jenin camp. This campaign is part of its ongoing efforts to support residents affected by the emergency conditions the region is experiencing, through agricultural cooperatives and leading women's production units in the governorate.
The parcels provided included basic food items from local production that meet the needs of the beneficiary family: local thyme, freekeh, local bulgur, anise, carob syrup, natural fiber, and maftoul, in addition to a basket of fresh vegetables from the Palestinian Center for Social and Economic Development Foundation, where the basket of vegetables included a group of fresh vegetables in the highest quality produced by the farmers of Marjab Ibn Amer The Kfardan Cooperative Society worked to provide vegetables from farmers, re-sort them, and pack them appropriately.
The campaign organizers stressed that this initiative comes within the role of women's and agricultural cooperatives in enhancing the community's resilience and within the humanitarian response plan launched by the coalition, in coordination with the popular committees within the camp and local institutions, to ensure that aid reaches the most affected families with the highest levels of integrity and transparency.
Beneficiaries of displaced families expressed their thanks and appreciation for this initiative, stressing the importance of continuing such campaigns in light of the difficult living conditions they suffer from, especially with the lack of basic services and sources of income.
It is noteworthy that this campaign is one of several initiatives implemented by the Coalition of Cooperative Societies in Jenin, as part of its vision to enhance community solidarity and mutual support in times of crisis
